Najlla Habibyar

Based in Kabul, Ms. Najlla Habibyar is the Co-Founder and Development Consultant of Ark Group, overseeing strategic business development initiatives. With a deep passion for supporting others and helping them fulfill their professional goals, Ms. Habibyar initiated the Artisan Toolkit to support artisans improve the quality of their products and understand how to best access international markets. Moreover, she has worked in the not-for-profit sector of Kabul for more than 8 years and is the Chairperson of Afghan Veracity Care for Unsheltered Families and co-founder of Paymaan Foundation.

Ms. Habibyar has deep domain expertise in the field of capacity development acquired from having held position in the Afghan Government, International Development Organisations (e.g. USAID, UNDP, DFID/UKAID) as well as the Afghan Private Sector.  Ms. Habibyar was on the Steering Committee Member of Tawanmandi Project, one of the largest DFID funded projects in Afghanistan.

Ms. Habibyar has previously served as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Export Promotion Agency of Afghanistan (EPAA). At EPAA, She was responsible for creation and implementation of appropriate export incentives, policies and programs of the Government of Afghanistan. She initiated the Artisan Toolkit to support artisans in producing better quality products and exporting to international markets.

Under her leadership, EPAA helped increase Afghanistans export by more than 40% year-on-year and EPAA was awarded second best entity from World Trade Promotion for best performance. Her hard work and leadership was recognised by both the Upper House of Parliament and His Excellency Mr. Hamid Karzai (former President of Afghanistan).

Ms. Habibyar has worked with Harakatâ Afghanistan Investment Climate Facility, where she led the implementation of the key economical reform projects, including: a) Development of Afghanistan Building Codes, b) Afghanistan Institute of Banking and Finance, and c) Development of National Trade Policy.

She received a BA in Educational Psychology in 2008 from Kabul University with a focus in community organization and change and a Masters in Business Administration from American University of Afghanistan.
