Overview ofÂ Skills
Skills is an APn-led initiative aimed at delivering interactive sessions by experienced professionals from diverseÂ sectors to introduce their fields and share their skills and expertise.Â Skills is looking toÂ apply for Continuing Professional Development (CPD) status so participantsÂ are able to receive official recognition for their attendance.
Skills eventsÂ heldÂ to-date
1. Oil & Gas FinanceÂ (held in London) ledÂ byÂ Joe Gatdula, an upstream analyst whoÂ is part of the senior management team at a leading London-based Oil & Gas consultancy.
2. EntrepreneurshipÂ (held in London) ledÂ byÂ Hanif Alokozai and Kudsia Kaker, who have both successfully developed their businesses in Construction and Events Management sectors, respectively.
3. Creative WritingÂ (held in London) ledÂ byÂ Georgia Fitch, a highly regarded playwright, aÂ co-writer of the critically acclaimed The Footballerâ€™s Wife and writer in residence at the Bush Theatre and at BBC Radio Drama.
4. Fundamentals of Finance (held in London)Â led byÂ Ms. Maral, an active APn member, who is a fully qualified Chartered Accountant and currently works as an auditor at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) in London.
5.Â Communications for Professionals (held in Kabul) led byÂ Najlla Habibyar (CEO of Export Promotion Agency of Afghanistan),Â Shakib Mohsanyar (Consultant, Afghanistan Holding Group) andÂ Chris Henderson (Business Communications Lecturer at AUAF).
Location ofÂ Skills events
Skills events are generally held at the University CollegeÂ London (UCL) in London and at the American University of Afghanistan (AUAF) in Kabul.
Cost of attendingÂ
Skills is run by a fantastic group of professional volunteers. Whilst the sessions are free, APnÂ alwaysÂ welcomes voluntary contributions to support ourÂ charitable initiatives: Winter Warmth (keeping children on the streets of Kabul warm) and Spring of Hope (providing stationary for school children in Kabul).
