Overview of Skills

Skills is an APn-led initiative aimed at delivering interactive sessions by experienced professionals from diverse sectors to introduce their fields and share their skills and expertise. Skills is looking to apply for Continuing Professional Development (CPD) status so participants are able to receive official recognition for their attendance.

Skills events held to-date

1. Oil & Gas Finance (held in London) led by Joe Gatdula, an upstream analyst who is part of the senior management team at a leading London-based Oil & Gas consultancy.

2. Entrepreneurship (held in London) led by Hanif Alokozai and Kudsia Kaker, who have both successfully developed their businesses in Construction and Events Management sectors, respectively.

3. Creative Writing (held in London) led by Georgia Fitch, a highly regarded playwright, a co-writer of the critically acclaimed The Footballer’s Wife and writer in residence at the Bush Theatre and at BBC Radio Drama.

4. Fundamentals of Finance (held in London) led by Ms. Maral, an active APn member, who is a fully qualified Chartered Accountant and currently works as an auditor at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) in London.

5. Communications for Professionals (held in Kabul) led by Najlla Habibyar (CEO of Export Promotion Agency of Afghanistan), Shakib Mohsanyar (Consultant, Afghanistan Holding Group) and Chris Henderson (Business Communications Lecturer at AUAF).

Location of Skills events

Skills events are generally held at the University College London (UCL) in London and at the American University of Afghanistan (AUAF) in Kabul.

Cost of attending 

Skills is run by a fantastic group of professional volunteers. Whilst the sessions are free, APn always welcomes voluntary contributions to support our charitable initiatives: Winter Warmth (keeping children on the streets of Kabul warm) and Spring of Hope (providing stationary for school children in Kabul).
